1. Who We Are
VarsityBeat is an independent local sports publication covering Sonoma County high school varsity athletics. We are not affiliated with any school, district, or athletic association.
2. Use of the Site
- You must be at least 13 years old to create any submission. Athletes under 18 must register with parent or guardian consent.
- Don't impersonate another person, athlete, parent, or coach.
- Don't submit content that is unlawful, threatening, harassing, defamatory, hateful, obscene, or that infringes anyone's rights.
- Don't attempt to disrupt, scrape, or reverse-engineer the site.
3. Submissions and Content License
When you submit content to VarsityBeat (registration info, photos, captions, etc.), you grant VarsityBeat a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to display, edit, format, and distribute that content as part of our editorial coverage. You retain ownership of your content. You promise that you have the right to submit it, including consent from any other people pictured.
4. Photo Submissions
- Only submit photos you took yourself, or that you have permission to share.
- VarsityBeat may credit you, edit your photo, or choose not to publish it.
- We will not knowingly publish photos that violate athlete privacy or safety.
5. Athlete and Team Profiles
VarsityBeat may create profile pages for athletes and teams using submitted information and information that is publicly available (rosters, stats, game results). Athletes, parents, and coaches may request edits or removal at any time by emailing editors@varsitybeat.com.
6. Editorial Discretion
VarsityBeat decides what to publish. We may reject submissions, edit content for clarity or length, choose which games to feature, and select Player, Coach, and School of the Week honors at our editorial discretion.
7. Third-Party Links
The site may link to school sites, MaxPreps, social media, and other external sources. We are not responsible for the content or practices of those sites.
8. Disclaimer
The site is provided "as is." We work hard to be accurate, but we make no warranty that scores, stats, or other information are error-free. Use the site for entertainment and journalism — not for betting, recruiting decisions, or anything similarly consequential.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, VarsityBeat is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising out of your use of the site.
